Saints’ Adrian Peterson: ‘Felt good to get hit’ in preseason debut

Adrian Peterson is feeling like his old self.

The Saints running back made his preseason debut Saturday against the Texans, playing into the second quarter of New Orleans’ 13-0 win in his first exhibition game since 2011.

Dustin Johnson, who also started the day tied for the lead, shot a 3-under 67 to get to 9 under. He finished Round 3 with four birdies and one bogey. Johnson, still ranked No. 1 in the world, has just one top 10 since injuring himself before the Masters.

Jon Rahm, Paul Casey, Matt Kuchar and Patrick Reed are all tied for third at 7 under. Casey, who often contends but has struggled to get over the hump and win, provided some insight into what he thinks it will take for him to win more often.

“Get rid of Jordan (Spieth) and Dustin (Johnson) from the top of the leaderboards,” Casey said, via

While it appears Spieth is destined for his fourth win of the season, he still faces a tough challenge with so many big names lurking behind him.

There are a few unwritten rules about running backs once they pass a certain age. The Jets pretty much broke all of those rules when they not only signed Forte to a $4 million-per-year contract but inexplicably guaranteed the first two seasons. Forte averaged just 3.7 yards per carry in his first year with the Jets.seahawks_128
